About Walk On Foundation Inc.
The idea of Walk On Foundation began back in April of 2006 when Joshua Richard organized a band festival to help raise funds for those dealing with Multiple Sclerosis. This festival was called Walk On Fest 2006 and hosted a number of bands and vendors. The event went well, however Josh was left feeling there was more he could do to help on a more broad base.
In the summer of 2007 a few friends came to Josh wanting to discuss how we could do more in our community. At that point Walk On Foundation was created and assisted persons in Central PA with basic necessity needs (shelter, food, clothing). While we were able to assist a number of families in Central PA we felt the need to assist further.
In August of 2008 Josh's wife Kristy came upon a website called Wish Upon A Hero. At this site their tagline is "No wish is too large. No hero is too small." Josh and Kristy began assisting persons through this site personally. Recognizing the potential this platform had in assisting others Josh and Kristy sent a message of interest to the founder, Dave Girgenti. Dave loved the idea of having a program on his website called Walk On Heroes which would assist with basic necessities. Walk On Heroes was created and began granting numerous needs through the Wish Upon A Hero site.
On July 1st, 2009 after assisting with many basic necessity needs, Walk On Heroes reorganized their efforts to assist only with medical needs.
On August 9th, 2009 Walk On Heroes decided that they wanted to expand and help others not only on Wish Upon A Hero but wherever possible. At this time our organization applied for 501c3 status under the name Walk On Foundation Inc. Effective 9/29/09 we became an official 501c3 non profit.
Our goal is to "Step Up and Leave A Mark" while helping others with medical needs.
